The prerequisites are to be certified as a Rescue Diver and have 40 logged dives, but a total of 60 dives must be logged before certification.
This is the first level of leadership in PADI training and is widely regarded as the entry point into the diving profession. Divemasters are often employed by dive centres as dive leaders and organisers. The training that reflects this responsibility and also forms the basis for successful participation in an IDC/IE covers knowledge development (theory), personal diving skills and the practical application of both.
